After careful consideration, and based on current enrollments and the Y’s membership base, the YMCA of the Palms has made the difficult decision to suspend operations at the Bonita Springs YMCA, effective May 31, 2011. The Bonita Springs YMCA was built to attract a membership base that unfortunately was never reached and as a consequence, it has experienced several years of operating losses. This is an unsustainable situation for the YMCA of the Palms.
We are trying to move forward with great sensitivity to what is best for Bonita Springs and its residents. Although we are suspending operations of the current branch in Bonita, our commitment to the community has not changed. Volunteer and staff leadership will continue will be working diligently to consider all sustainable solutions for the Bonita Springs community.
